Gwyneth’s Gift Foundation’s 6th annual Whiskey Business fundraiser took attendees on an unforgettable trip around the Northeast, exploring local foods, experiences – and of course – top-shelf whiskeys.
“Whiskey Business: Northern Nights was a remarkable event that brought our community together in support of our vital mission”, said Joel Griffin, Chairman and Founder. “The energy, camaraderie, and enthusiasm displayed by our attendees were truly inspiring.”
The event began with a VIP hour centered on the Boston Harbor, featuring Putnam New England Whiskey, freshly shucked oysters, and a hoot around “One-Eyed Willie” the Owl. Saxophone artist Darin Smith welcomed guests with classical jazz hits.
The main event’s atmosphere was an intricate mix of nightlife in the city and scenic mountain retreats with cozy elegance in a natural setting. Primetime performances by dueling pianos duo Felix and Fingers brought the intimacy of a classic New York City Piano Bar, engaging the crowd in both classic and modern hits. Outdoors, miniature campfires surrounded by Adirondack chairs allowed guests to bask in the warm evening and make s’mores with Whiskey Business-branded marshmallows.
Specialty whiskey tastings included Kings County Hazmat, Widow Jane Lucky 13, and Hudson Five Year, all distilled in New York. The tastings were paired with artisan chocolate by local chocolatier Favor, all curated specifically to compliment the notes of each featured whiskey.
At the bar, in addition to tough-to-find, top-shelf names such as Blanton’s and Buffalo Trace, Whistle Pig 15 Year Old Rye made a special appearance. The signature drink, called Autumn in New York, featured a sophisticated taste that was both rustic like the Hudson Valley and vibrant like the spirit of New York City.
The Silent Auction was full of opportunities for guests to win high-quality furniture, locally renowned art, and even a couple’s vacation to New York City, including distillery tours from the event’s highlighted whiskeys.
“This year’s Whiskey Business: Northern Nights was a celebration of not only fine spirits, but also our shared commitment to saving lives,” said Veronica Gutierrez, Director of Operations. “The support we received from our incredible community allows us to continue our mission. We’re excited to build on this momentum for next year’s theme, Whiskey Business: Japan!”
